Optimize Windows XP System Settings for your Gaming Machine

I am trying to make my windows xp run so that it is optimized for online gaming performance. Any Ideas? Does this sound like a good idea to do or does it look like it lowers your security too much? http://www.subvers.com/technobabble/html/gaming2.htm
