Make sure there is no dust on your CPU fan or on your GFx card fan. Make sure they are running.

sry i thought u were ok at the mo.
[summary of post - need more ram] [read the rest if u can be arsed] sounds like your short of ram. had the same kinda thing here, except it would pause every 5 seconds lol, extremely frustrating. this could be the prob: basically when your comp uses up all your ram it starts using some of your hard drive, its called a page file iirc. the hdd is a loooooooooooot slowwwwwwwweerrrrrrr than the RAM but anyway if you comp is trying to use the HDD as ram it could well freeze up the game every so often, as its taking time for the comp to read the data (as its also using it to read the game from plus run read any info it needs of other tasks running then). you may well not have a page file at all, which could be an issue to, because when you run of of ram your comp has to work hard to move stuff in and out for the ram. ctrl+alt+del performance commit charge (bottom left) this shows your page file total - what is being used now limit - max peak - the max used since you last booted when i had the problem, the peak was very high and above the limit sometimes, and the comp was jerky. especially when i was playing doom3, pankiller, hl2, video editing etc, basically stuff that used a lot if ram. so next time its jerky, when uve finished the game, exit and check the commit charge peak. my prob was solved initially by removing the page file from my windows drive to my spare drive. then i went and bought 512mb more ram. |
