DirectX 9 Released
Source: http://pr-base.com and http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=6835
AS EXPECTED Microsoft finally rolled with version 9.0 of DirectX, although it postponed the introduction for a week or so. Be careful! You cannot un-install this without re-installing Windows, and with XP this might not be as easy it could be. You could always roll back to a version of XP without DirectX 9 -- in face we've had to do this following some "critical updates" earlier this month. Sheesh. Also remember that few hardware products support DirectX 9, yet. A source close to Microsoft's plans said that the download is really still a beta release candidate and not even RC1, and there will be more releases in the coming months. That means, he said, that by then ATI will not have the only card that supports DX9 and that the driver support for this release is very very minimal. Further, there does not yet seem to be a public SDK. Apparently Phil Taylor, in charge of the DirectX 9 programme at Microsoft recently left. He said: "Anyone who uses this except on a spare machine is nuts." so think about it before you decide to get it! link to file: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...dxwebsetup.exe more info: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...fid=1037189523 |

i'll hold off thanks for the info most of the time i will jump for really fast but you gave a lot info made me think lol
i have test somethings from them before some time its handy to have Goback i have upgraded it & update to Pro Goback now if i instill this Dx9 and it did not work our i can unstill by going back in time pass the point i instill it everything be undid. system restore can't do this you be stuck with it. but goback dose all the area's (cheap way to use unstill items that can't normalie be done.)

Just did it, no problems but, I'm running Windows XP Pro and a Radeon 9700 Pro. 10% better at least. Windows does recommend doing a restore point b4 installation but that's just good common sense.
Good luck...

Its as official as it gets guys, whoever is claiming its a beta is entirely full of it.... http://www.microsoft.com/directx is more than proof enough And consdiering when I got it there weren't any beta files in it, there was no need to ever dispute that this one was the official one.
Those of you having problems will find that they are related to your video card drivers. So far only ATI and Matrox have released DirectX 9 video drivers. |

I was mouthing nobody off. If they took it as a flame thats their problem I was not aiming at anyone in particular as several people said it was beta. Getting a life? sounds to me like you need one if you are hunting for any excuse to flame people. for those of you who thought I flamed you I'm sorry. For the namecaller above, a nice request for an apology instead of name calling would have sufficed.
