connect to lan over internet

Hi,

My friends have there computers connected on the same router, and I'm trying over the internet to play with them using a vpn, I can ping the computers, but when trying to search for the server I can't reach it.

Is something that I need to do on the router?

Do they have forwarded the game ports in the router?

I read a post with a explination of some ports to open, but still not works, I'm trying to connect to a server with a domain control.

I open the 32768, 49152, 64206, 7597 ports in the "Port Forwarding Parameter"
