Embry Riddle is awesome. They sent me all the info on transfering. There are a ton of classes that transfer from SLCC.

Actually I am in Utah, they also have a Campus in Prescott Arizona which is about 500 miles away.

I am amazed how easy and fast they made the transfer sheet. I tried doing that to BYU from SLCC and it was a PAIN, neither school would help me out.

and the airline companys are more looking for people that come out of the airforce opposed to having a degree from embry riddle now adays cause they got the experience on flying jets...

Sounds like a great plan. IMHO, it's always a good decision to get your degree if you don't have one, especially since you've got the government to pay it all for you

Yeah Voodoo I was planning on going airforce but yah know what? You have to have a four year degree to do that if you want to be a pilot. I may as well get my flight training before so it is more of a reason for them to want me as a pilot.

I am always open to advice....BTW as for the AirForce bit...

90% of the pilots that I met at Salt Lake International Airport that were flying for delta and united were civilian trained.

If I was in the military flying F-16's I would keep that job over being a commercial pilot.

The guy that I am flying with is a retire Col or Major from the Airforce.. he was a navigator/pilot.

My problem is that I do not have 20/20 vision...that is where stuff gets hairy...my vision isn't horrible it just isn't 20/20. I hear the general rule on that is that you have to have 20/20 with no corrective lenses...so if I get lasik I think I would qualify.

yea .. to be a pilot in the airforce you need to be an office, which means you need a degree

"90% of the pilots that I met at Salt Lake International Airport that were flying for delta and united were civilian trained."

yea ...because they didn't just become pilots

you can become an airline pilot or cargo pilote for like UPS by going to embry riddle, but i've heard they prefer you fresh out of the airforce because you got the experience of flying jets....

and thats the problem with become a pilot, you need the hours....which takes a while ... but there many ways to do it

best way i think is being in the airfoce lol ..

but you can also fly private jets and train people, thats how a friend of mine got his hours...he's not really even flying the plane .. but as long as he's flying with the student he's getting hours....

Yeah that is what someone that is going flying with is did. He flew for a mail carrier and didn't even go to Embry Riddle. He went to West Minster or something up here in SLC. Then he got on at like UPS then he trained people for united...then he became a captain.

I would love to go through air force...depends on their pickiness with the eye stuff.

Having previous, real experience flying something similar to what you would be flying with an airliner makes you more marketable, and that's what it's all about.

FedEx is a great company to be a pilot for, and you'll get lots of heavy hours.
