Win XP prob - cannot run any .msc files

damn this is kinda a big problem i guess :/

i tried to access the device manager to update my tv card drivers wheni get a message saying MMC cannot open devmgmt.msc

either because

its not there
is not an MMC console
was created by a later version of MMC
or i dont have permissions

i do have permissions
and it is there :

(c:\windows\system32\devmgmt.msc)



but i dont know anything about the other 2 options it mentions :/

the same happens ofr all the .msc files in system32 - dfrg.msc, diskmgmt.msc etc

so now im stuck tried looking on the net but cant really dig anything up. any suggestions apart from a clean install of windows?

recently i have installed some games, newest nvidea drivers, tv card.

just reinstalled Win over the top and it sorted it :/
