www.godaddy.com is cheap and as realiable as anything, but never pay full price, google godaddy discount codes or something like that for even cheaper domains

I would not get your domain with your host.

I may have lost a domain because of that - In my opinion it is better to keep the domain separate from your host as then all you have to do to switch hosts is change the dns settings.

when I tried out 1and1.com I registered a domain through them - I didn't like them so I canceled my account, now I can't log in to change any dns settings on it, and I have to wait 60 days to even try to transfer it (which should be up... need to try again).

found this place.

www.lypha.com

sounds like a sweet deal.

7.95/mo Shared Hosting
1000GB space
5000GB bandwidth
Host unlimitted websites
Unlimitted Sub-domains
6000 email accounts
Unlimitted FTP accounts
Unlimitted MYSQL databases
+3 year membership to templatespace.com
+Free lifetime domain name
+2 Free extra months

and im considering

19.95/mo Reseller Hosting
15GB space
3000GB bandwidth
Host unlimitted domains
Unlimitted sub-domains
Unlimitted email accounts
Unlimitted FTP accounts
+Extra 5GB space/1000GB bandwidth master account
+3 year membership to templatespace.com
+Free lifetime domain name
+1 Free extra month

Not so sure about the reseller, cuz it would be hard to host people with so many hosts on the internet today. But I think the shared plan is really good, what yall think?

just keep in mind that most companies are most likely over-selling their resources - shared hosts usually have dozens if not hundreds of clients on each server - no way they can support giving each client 1000Gb of disk space. that realization is what helped me move from hostgater...

Why pay for disk space I won't be able to use?

That is only a good deal if you are prepaired to be locked in with them for a year. Only way you will get the $7.95 per-month price is if you agree to a 12 month contract, other wise it is $15.95 a month.

Better see what the terms of service says if you cancel early.

If you are, the offer expires @ 11pm CST

its a nightmare... 2 much competition.. ive been doing it for 2 months now and still have no clients.. wud advise yot to buy a small plan.. ie a £4 a month or less one until u need to upgrade.. as most hosters will allow u 2

the resources allotted to you under reseller apply to every one that you set up webhosting for

So if you host for 5 different people, all disk space used by those 5 counts toward your reseller account limit. As the reseller you can configure different packages, splitting up the resources as you see fit.

using elixar web and the $7.95 reseller package for an example, you are given 5gb of disk space, 10 gb of bandwidth to use as you see fit. if you get 1000 clients, how you divvy that up is up to you, as long as your 1000 clients don't exceed your assigned resources.

Your reseller account probably will be on the same server as others - think of it as a glorified shared hosting

I went with the $7.95 reseller one. For hosting a couple sites that should be fine for now. Down the road you can upgrade if needed - maybe throw some text ads in to help pay for it

You can host other domains under a normal shared account, but if you want to give people cpanel access so that they can manage their own databases, etc they will then have full access to your stuff also (not a big deal if you control all the sites your self).
