TAMPA, Fla. - Authorities issued a hurricane warning Monday and called for evacuations along Florida’s Gulf Coast as Tropical Storm Alberto, the first named storm of the 2006 Atlantic hurricane season, unexpectedly gained strength.

Forecasters warned that some areas could see a storm surge of up to 10 feet. Rain was already falling and two tornados had formed, although no injuries or damage were reported, the National Weather Service said.

“We’re talking about powerful forces of nature,” Gov. Jeb Bush said. “People need to take this very seriously.”

Bush signed an emergency declaration allowing Bush to call up the National Guard and put in place laws against price gouging.

He said mandatory evacuation orders had been posted for about 100 miles of low-lying coastal area along the gulf coast, stretching from an area just south of Tallahassee to Citrus County, north of Tampa. Other evacuations are possible as the storm gets closer.

“If you are ordered to evacuate, you really should do it,” Bush said.

will i still have not seen any thunder or lighten at all, its is none stop rain fall, not even heavy raining at all. about av age rain fall steady.

winds are minner 10mph.

this is more like a normal rain day if anything, not so scary at all.

still waiting for the big storm they talk about on the news.



at this time we here gotten 3" 1/2 inchs of rain

we had same break in the rain it now stop. it scatter cloud cover, i can see the stars now

its gonna be a long hurricane season

we're supposed to get the after affects of it tomorrow. mostly rain and a little wind. supposed to top off at about 3in to 3.5in of rain.

yea it came right on top of me, only it was windy and rain some too, 5" 1/2 inches that was about it, very little lighting and winds were like 10-20mph only.

acted more like a small thunder storm then anything other then that lasted a very long time 8hrs none stop rain fall.
