Hosting DFLW

With two boys 5 and 3 start pushing buttons on a computer make sure it's not yours. I had to reformat my computer and I lost the web address of where to download info-ix to host DFLW. Can anybody give me the link again? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you wish to host on lan (IPX) or internet (IP)

Internet you just follow onscreen menus to host, Router/firewall ports 17478 UDP and 4660 UDP

For lan on XP install IPX Protocol for your NIC and youre good to go.
Vist try this link http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/...5104&SiteID=17

For Win7, forget it, only way I know is install XP virtual machine and then install the IPX protocol.

Hope this helps

I finally found the download for import-x and the Nova emulator. The emulator allows me to host a game when Nova is down. There is one for DFLW and another for TFD. The only way I found it was not a search for Land Warrior or Taskforce but DF II. But I don't recall having to open port 4660. Where did you hear that from?

Windows 7. It sure is funny every time a new windows comes out it's suppose to be new and improved but if it werent for browsing the net I would still be using Windows 98. It never failed. Thanks for the info

It came about when I was watching what ports were opening and why on my TFD LW server, two games on one machine, I saw that dagger was on 17478 same as LW but only if it was started first. The second game would use 21574, the game that uses 17478 also tried to open port 4660 and the one that uses 21574 tried to open 4661.

When I allowed these ports to open, the performance of the game server pepped up. I asked Novalogic for any explanation about this and got the very helpful usual response of, "NO REPLY"

It does assist in network traffic and seems to keep lag down to a minimum. But it does not prevent the game from running if you block the 4660 and/or 4661 ports (both UDP).

I host on a T3 Terminal connection, have also tried this on a DSL connection and it had the same effect of giving that little bit of pep.

anytime, hope it helped.

As an aside after some more research into the ports 4660/4661 these are used for directx traffic, so Im guessing this is where the performance kick comes from.
