Playing Joint Ops within VPN
Hi all,
I have a site-to-site VPN topology set up. Here's my network set up. JO Server - 10.0.2.4 My PC - 10.0.1.2 I can ping both machines from each other and have opened up the JO ports on the server. When I launch JO, go to LAN and click Search, nothing comes up. Is it only scanning for servers within the 10.0.1.0 network? If so, is there a way I can make it scan beyond that so I can join my server? Edit: Posted on NW2 as well: http://www.novaworld2.com/index.php?...topic/id_12220 |

Hi
Maybe someone else will have a better idea about it than me because I don't know a lot about VPN problems but some issues I've thought out from what I do know could be... Client from same origin as host (something to do with client/host settings in the VPN) You may need to edit the following 2 files, you'll find them in the game folder. admin.cfg and game.cfg The remote server admin configuration may need looking at in admin.cfg and also check the Multi-player LAN port configuration in game.cfg. |

Thanks for the pointer. While admin.cfg looks promising, I think that has to do with RAT and what users are allowed to manage it. I could be wrong though. I went into game.cfg and played with lines 54 and 96. I changed them to 10.0.1.0, 10.0.2.0, etc. no cigar.

In the mean time I seem to remember an old thread somewhere here at NHQ where the user had a VPN for DFX and managed to get it going after a few questions here. Maybe using a switch or (argument) will do something, I think it was /serveonly |

Sure. I'm using Microsoft Azure to host my server on. And I'm using their virtual network services to tunnel a VPN connection from my house to my servers in Azure.
My Azure network is: 10.0.2.0/24 My home network is: 10.0.1.0/24 Joint Ops is running. I can host on NovaWorld without any issue but I want to use LAN for other reasons. I'm also using the /serveonly flag because JO wouldn't run on the servers anyway without it. I think this is entirely a network related issue. Something to do with JO not scanning outside of my home network and not handling VPN traffic properly. |

Give something like https://packetsender.com/ or http://www.simplecomtools.com/produc...sp?idproduct=6 a shot. Basically, open a UDP connection on your server and verify on your client if you are able to send/receive via UDP. Not all VPN's allow UDP traffic.
