LeechGet and Star Downloader are good download managers (I use LeechGet currently). And also, some sites don't support download managers, so if you've got a certain direct link to the demo file, while you download the file, the download will instantly HALT. I know of a site that should have the demo (with a download manager supported link) once it's released...
