How to hover a helo after traveling the waypoints
I can get a helo to follow to the last waypoint, but then it circles the last waypoint.
I can get a helo to hover if I direct it to a single waypoint. BUT how do I get a helo to hover at the last waypoint ? Is there such a command as (helo = Group 10): GROUPhover(10) |

are you redirecting the helo to the Waypoint using a event?
if so make sure it is being directed to "NEAREST" waypoint and not a waypoint number. also, open your Waypoint list window (press Ctrl+W) and make sure "Waypoint Does Not Loop" is checked off for the helo's waypoint list. as for the WAC command, you're wasting your time on that becuase it doesn't really do anything. |

Why not just have the final waypoint as a seperate waypoint in the list? save alot of hassle since you can already manage that.
And skinny, the waypoint does not loop sets it to go from a to b, not from a to b back to a, rinse repeat.

Thanks all. Looks like the best is to fly a navigational waypoint list, then redirect to a single waypoint, where it will hover instead of circle.

Well I find that there is a little more to acquiring a hover. The waypoint must be large enough that the helo will be able to stop within the waypoint circle, else the helo will just continue to circle.

try setting the Z value of the final waypoint higher up to the altitude it flies at, incase you haven't tried that already.

LOL, guys it's simple. I could set up a hovering helo in 2 minutes..... you're over thinking it. just make sure the WP distances are large enough, and make sure they are high enough. when the helo gets to the last WP, it will hover....
I could send you a sample map no probs if you want me to gorlosky. jus' PM me your email address and I'd be happy to. |

I did setup a test map and that's how I discovered that at default speed a Little Bird will overshot a standard 10 meter waypoint, while a Blackhawk, Apache and Chinnook will not. The Little Bird will circle left, in a large circle, repeatingly being at too high a speed to stop. I had this happen in The OutPost and thought the circling was a nice feature.
At least now I also know how to make them do big circles without waypoints :-) |
