Is there a listing of...

Is there a listing of:
What are the hit box locations and how much damage is required for each for personnel and vehicles ?
What is the range of weapons (i.e. max range of an anti tank rocket) and does the damage decrease with range ?
Vulnerability of vehicles ( i.e. do tanks have a weak spot ) and required damage to destroy (i.e. how many rocket hits or 50 cal hits, etc.) ?
Are there limits to weapon usefullness ( i.e. could you take out a troop carrier with sniper rifle with enough rounds) ?

Thanks

Spend some time here, http://www.dfbarracks.com/ under DFX or BHD or look up your Med manual and then learn to speak .wac

The more s/p maps you make the better you get, if you like movies or comics the easier it gets, see your self as a director or for that matter a producer of a story
told with 'a different way?' the first person aspect.

Go to DFX2 s/p and d/l 4rc28's latest map, he often ups the mission .mis,
open this with your med, see how he's got it all laid out, see also the .wac, open with notepad see how he's got the sound file commands laid out to fire when you/player hits the trigger.

Vulnerability of vehicles? see SSN hitpoints

gorlosky, don't you copy anything with out his permission

Mermite, this more sounds like ITEMS.DEF than anything else.

gorlosky, get this:

http://www.novahq.net/?show=utilitie...get_file&id=60

Open the app and browse into your game directory and go into localres.pff and extract "ITEMS.DEF".

Once extracted, use this to decrypt the file:

it's in the Items.DEF.

when you decrypt and open the items.DEF in Notepad you'll see a bunch of scripts that start with the name of the item and end with "END". those are the settings scripts for each item in DFX2. it each item script you'll see an attribute called "ssnHP".

I've not done EVERY item but I do have a list of all the vehicles Hit points.

I made this a few years ago for DFX1 so I'm not sure if DFX2's hitp[oints are the same, I suspect they are.

cool

Now what is the list of what each weapon will put out in hitpoints equivalency ? or where might I find that ?

An associated question is:
What are the weak points on each vehicle (like can you kill a tank easier from behind ) ?

I don't think vehicles have weak points. I've never heard of it anyway.

but I'm not sure how you'd find the damage of each weapon. it would be in the ammo.DEF but it would be hard to tell because it is judged on the weight and velocity of the ammo type. there's not just one simple number that shows how many hitpoints it will knock off of it's target.

Yup, AMMO.DEF for that. Same technique as you did with ITEMS.DEF.

As far as I know I don't think there are any weak spots on a vehicle like e.g. tyres - I think Nova's DFX engine may be a bit crappy and not have that lol.

yes but you see the prob Chris is there's no officail way to tell how many hitpoints the ammo type knocks off of its target. that is greatly affected by it's weight and velocity.

example, you have two bullets that have the same weight. one has a higher velocity. the one with higher velocity will have the more damage.

Wonder if the plain kinetic energy formula is being used, and converted to hitpoints somehow?

Energy = 1/2 * mass * (velocity) squared

A quick test would be to use a .50 cal on a truck and tank and count the shots, remembering to pause as the final destruction approaches.
