What do you think about this layout...

Completely CSS/XHTML (Free host, so I can't make it complete XHTML valid yet...but oh well.)

Anywhom, friendly criticism welcome:
http://jonmdonald.joolo.com/blog.php

(Please realize right now I just need tips/advice on the actual layout. I have no other pages up, and no real content to show off yet.)

Thanks,
JonM

EDIT: Currently only works in FF, I'll fix it for IE later, so that bug is found. Anything else you see is appreciated though. .

Yeah same here kinda. It looks slighty better in FF. I reckon good job for now - I probably couldn't code that lol.

hmm general consensus on colors and too simple. not a big deal to change . I'll add a bit more too it. What do you think it's lacking to make it so simple though? Maybe I should do lighter colors since this is a professional webblog (like maybe light grays, blues, and whites?

Thanks for all your input so far.

*edit* by to simple do you mean lacking content such as maybe a user login/logout funciton and some actual content?

It could generally mean just actual content, or both, really. Add some user interaction gadgets in or something, heh.

who knows. i'll add in some content, some other gadgets, make some changes around the actual theme...and then see how the colors work.

what i get for getting free hosting haha

oh well, i want to finish this site and then purchase hosting + domain. or domain, and run it on my LAMP server . if i have all the design and coding done, then it's just a matter of keeping it up-to-date, which is easy to do. when you already have the site .com and the hosting, i personally can't work as hard, cause i just want the site to be done.

Okay, I did a bit of playing around and I found your IE problem:

Code:
#content_right {
	background: #575656;
	width: 191px;
	float: right;
	padding: 2px;
}
Changing 191px to 190px fixed the problem.

I also made you your banner and a navigation button (I even know a code that makes it glow when you point to the button!):

The grey is the exact same as the grey in your blog and so is the green!

Anything else you need gimme some shouts.

Chris
