The idea being by doing a scan out side of a windows environment, the trojan can't run. Maybe the applications cant remove it do to files being in use, etc. the Book 101 knoppix tips and tricks explains how to do this.

This link explains how (and the advantages to doing so): http://www.enterprisenetworkingplane...0952_3389801_2

I have to give you credit though with trying to fix this.

If I was in your shoes I would have most likely done a low-level format with in hours of your first post, using knoppix to back up any files

my computer is fast again (well normal speed.) not sure why, I don't remember doing anything, though i did delete some stuff. My norton is no longer popping up with the problem (maybe one the fix programs I ran worked, and I just didn't know it?) anyways i'm going to go try and find the file that was infected before and if i can find it (i'll scan it) and see if it's still alive. if it is, i'll use this temporary speed to go and get some of the software you all have recommended .

Thanks for helping me this far guys, every bit has helped

The file is gone! I'm gonna be running an adware scan, and then i'll be on my way back to normal. P2P is gay haha

That's good you got it all sussed.

I don't think AdAware does Trojans in general or whatever, but I recommended it because I thought what you had was a worm or adware/spyware/malware of some sort.

Just a thought, it woulda been weird if that Trojan blocked things from running, and in the log, had no sign of a Trojan; as it would have to be running to work, I think.

Anyways try and get a good registry cleaner to clean out those missing file entries or whatever.

I remember once I deleted this Trojan, and it kept saying on startup that a system file was missing (Windows thinking that the Trojan was a system file). After weeks of trying, I finally got a registry cleaner to clean up things, and, the error finally stopped showing up. So if you have anything similiar, then get a registry cleaner.
