Laptop

Just got myself a new laptop thought I might share my experiance...

Always thought laptops were pretty worthless and just cost to much.. But needed one for school so I bought a mid-range laptop for about $1,000.. Bought 1 gig of ram so I have 1.5gb and replaced the slow ass 4200rpm hard drive with a 5400rpm (Hard to find a 7200rpm drive for cheap). So total around $1,400 for backpack, hdd, ram, and mouse + 2gb USB drive and wireless router.

Took the laptop apart alittle to add the ram (what a biotch to get the ram out/in!) and replace the hard drive.. Formatted and installed windows.. I fell in love! It's not the fastest thing in the world. It's about as fast as my older computer except for the graphics which kinda stuck but it's kinda hard to play games on a laptop anyways, it still plays movies great.

There is nothing like sitting my lazy ass on the couch or laying in bed working on something! hehe

Keyboard sucks cause it's so small but got my wireless network setup in my apartment and got a nice wireless mouse and just chill on the couch and work away.

Specs: (made by Acer)

15.0 XGA Display
AMD Turion64 ML-30
1.5GB DDR333
80GB 5400rpm toshiba HDD
DVD±R/RW/CDRW Multi Drive
About 2.5 hours battery life (3 with normal use)
Wireless B/G network card built in with / lan / modem

That compaq is a pretty good deal actually. If you customize it you can get a AMD64 4000+ with 1gb ram, 5400rpm 80gb HDD, 128mb 200X ati graphics for about $1,400 bucks.

To bad I don't like compaq..

now go buy a 5400rpm hdd and add a gig of ram and it will scream .. I want to upgrade my laptop CPU to a Turion ML-40 so I got 2.0Ghz instead of 1.6Ghz.. Going to wait a little bit till the price comes down. Going to be a biotch getting it outa the laptop tho.

planning on the 1gb ram but the 5400 hd will have to wait...

i can get 512mb ddr for 42 bucks...

BUT the catch is im gonna have to get 2 because the current is 256mb x 2

but it will be worth it...

now here is something for ya.. this sucker can play JO on high settings and bf2 on medium WITH 512mb of ram! but the medium setting is a little sluggish but 1gb ram should fix that...

the battery life is very good considering the power sucking parts that in this thing... playing bf2 for 15 min with screen brightened all the way and general internet ect.. after that (with screen all the way up) it lasts 2.5 -3hrs thats not bad considering... takes ages to charge though...

i was also playing some music...
