I have a Linksys setup with cable.

The one thing I learned back in LW days, is that you need two distinct IP's. My ISP was able to give me a second IP for the second machine. It works for LW, TFD and BHD.

Hope this hels you

Most new routers have a setting in their setup to allow running xactive games behind the firewall. Not all have this feature turned on as default. I know dlink di614 does and so does serveral of the linksys routers. Check your router documentation to see if it has this feature. If not see if there is a software upgrade from the manufactor of your router. You may have to upload new bin file( flash the bios on your router). Hope this helps without this feature you need a IP for each computer playing behind the router. Much cheaper to buy new router with feature. The dlink di614 works well and has wireless access capabilities. I payed about $50 for it much less than 1 year or extra Ip expense. But if your router is fairly new model it more than likely has it available. Hope this helps.

U can host via a router. U will need to assign separate IP's to your computers. And forward port 17479 for hosting DF:BHD. I dont remember the port numbers from the other DF games though..

its very simple you can put a dmz onthe internal ip adress of your host pc or make a virtual server.set port to 17479 and get thePINGER PROGRAM ON THE PC U WANT TO JOIN.search your server in list right click on it.add internal ip adress of router pc.also port 17479 if not done automatic.
works on 1 ip adress even on a dynamic 1
