server is auto punting

Hi all...i am pasting a letter from Sneak Stalker & Shadow Stalker

I play now as Cheese Stalker in Stalkerville...our Stalkerville server in TFD has developed some issues that we can't seem to fix...could anyone lend us a hand?

Hello

We have 3 computers, one is hosting a public game in TFD, and it has worked fine until now, all of the sudden it keeps autopunting everyone in the server.

After a few minutes when a player joins he gets autopunted, the serverscreen starts counting besides their names, after about 100 seconds the players die and gets autounted.

We have created a puntlog and they all get punted for "timestamp response not recieved" or "DItem z error".

We have tryed everything we can think off, and read every topic about this in several forums, but nothing have worked so far.

We have reformatted the entire computer, reinstalled Win XP, reinstalled the game, got the latest update for the game, only used default settings, not running any anti virus nor firewall, and put the computer in DMZ on the router, even used a switch instead of the router. Nothing changed.

After the reinstall of the game, we tryed to host with stock maps, and it worked fine, so we thought it was our custom maps that were messed up. But other people are able to host our custom maps without any problems.

Now all 3 of our computers are acting that way...autopunting players... None of them have ever done it before, all the computers have all the Win Updates, the latest drivers, and are virus free. The computers have different specs. So we doubt it has anything to do with that.

All of the 3 computers have been hosting the same maps and with the same settings for over a year, and has worked fine - until now.

Could you please tell us what is causing this problem, and how to fix it.

hmmm anyways there are viruses out there known as stealth viruses which are hard as hell to get rid of but im thinking i know WINDOWS XP isnt the best for gaming but it could be Does anyone else have access to the server by DEM Remote or Anything?You know that DEM Remote Program or Condas Server Manager if so if ya use those ya might wanna change the access password in case someone has figured a way to get in yalls server by that.Because my friend a while back on LW had someone get in his server controls and took control of his server. Anyways its just an idea also some programs might cause a coflict with the game any new programs ya downloaded?Dont know Spyware might be the case some spyware is bad and if so might wanna check on that too.

just got ur message, but i do look at every thread posted in the forum and cannot really think of what might be going wrong.

do all the players get punted?

at the same time?

if ppl can join then its not the firewall, and shouldnt be a connection problem except the counter thing sounds like a perminant connection interrupt.

players using skins will encounter the problem you describe.


i would consider email nova tech support with this

you are being hacked/ cracked from the outside!

the auto punt is a weak way of causing a problem on your server!

the access can be gain on the unpnp ports and the dcom!

to help disable all ports from 100 to 376
