getting a new case

ok, question is, will my motherboard fit? i know nothing about this, its a k8 neo or something from MSI for athlon and my friend has the same case and his motherboard fits... so uh yea, ill need more help too, like what do i take out first? motherboard? powersupply? etc

coolio case, and yes it will fit np's.

xoxide has some nice stuff but i dont think they ship to UK


tbh it will be come very clear what to take out and put back first when you get the case open. but this is what i would do:

# turn power off, unplug cable
# unplug all connecters from the back
# remove all agp/pci cards
# pull out all power cables to hdd's / cd drives
# put out all connectors from hdd's / cd drives but leave all cables in same place on mobo
# unscrew all drives and remove from case
# take power conectors out of mobo
# unscrew and remove psu
# pull out wires that go from mobo to power button / reset / light (it is quite important to remember how these are connected, however there should be writing on the mobo or see your manual)

pretty much the only thing left is mobo? should be screwed to chasis by 6 - 8 or more screws.

unscrew

lift out mobo gently, i usually grab it by the heatsink but just dont bang it against something.


one thing you might come across is that in your new case, the spacer screws - inbetween the mobo and chasis - might not be ther, but u should receive a bag of screws and stuff with the new case.

also check that the backplate (where all the connectors are) on the new case is right before screwing the mobo in . if necessary you might have to take the backpalte out of the old case and pop it in the new one - this is no big deal to move, but it is specific to your mother board usually.


but it's quite simple really, just leave all the ram and cpu alone and things should boot up fine. if it doesn, it's probably the gfx card not pushed in hard enough or something simple. also just make sure everything is connected and has power
