HUD Mod - unfair?
There's mods out there that one can install, a hud mod that you can alter color, crosshairs & directionals that nova says its not cheating- but does not supported them.
I am wondering if you think using this is an unfair advantage to the normal players out there like me? I only heard of this, but am wondering use of such should be frownd on? To me, any mod that alters the game play is a form of cheat - mild as this seems. Am I wrong? I am arguing with members in my team for using it The no-cd crack does not alter the gameplay - but I lost nova login because I used it way back when it first came out. Later we hear one gets banned from nova for using it Thank you pinger! Still, like input about the hud mod, as one posted an ss in forums and we see he's using it - so he got banned for it. This overkill? Another got banned for asking how to change crosshair colors as he forgot so was asumed he's using this cheat(s) and promptly banned |

Any change to the game that is not of the original is wrong. No matter how small it may seem it is still an unfair advantage. In a game competition it should be the persons skills not his tools. I would prefer that the only tools allowed to be used are the ones that everyone has and agrees to. If it is that big of a help let Nova and it.

I dont agree with a hud mod beeing a cheat or whatever, i think of it as a improvement of the game. Many games support the altering of your hud, so why shouldnt Nova?

My opinion: if it doesnt come from Nova, dont use it in a nova server.
If the public host servers and want to allow a mod such as this, all the power to them. |

Interesting question, I got a similar one that dealt with a MOD which allowed Medics for example, to use sniper guns...It's unfair, if not all the players are using the same MOD's....Equal footing, is key in playing a fair game...Personally, I think MOD's are around because some players feel NOVA didn't do a good enough job in producing the game...It's very difficult to produce these games, takes years in some cases with a variety of computer programmers...It's easier to add to someone else's game than to produce something from scratch...
I would never play in a server where I wasn't using the same MOD like everyone else... |

it only a skin on the screen no then to do with charters skin at all.
there been some socall mod were they edited the charters skin these are cheats, not same for hud. in a way the skin mod it not even a mod at all they change the image in the pff file so charters are brighter then normal or sample yellow so they stand out. Editing the HUD is not even a cheat at all. the hud would be better in some ways, only the look of it be change. Mods in most parts all have to have it to play in a server, Medic using sniper rifle mod is not a cheat do to all have the same option to be a medic and snipe as a sniper. Novaworld.com servers block mods from being use in their servers, only can use mod in servers who are hosting (none novaworld.com servers) that type of mod. host and players must have the same mod to play in that server. don't test cheats, mod, No-Cd patch in Novaworld.com stats servers you be banned

Well, i have to say that HUD modding is perfectly fair. I loved the HUD color in the TerraNova MOD, so now i simply use the file from that mod when playing regular Black Hawk Down. I love to customize everything... That's why i play PC games, because console games are absolutely the same, and can't really be customized. You can turn your HUD off, halfway on, and On. If you have the ability to turn your HUD off, then how is changing the color an unfair advantage?
I think that in a game "Tools" matter as much as "Skills". When your on the real battlefield. do you get the soldiers and terrorist to gather in the middle and say "Everyone drop your RPGs, it's unfair"?

all have to have the mud to play in a server, if a player don't have the hud mod they can't join.
Novaligic, Inc already rule on this mod it not a cheat at all.

That's a good Quote, Jeff. But, the HUD mod is completely useable in Nova servers - i've tried.
I still think what i had is a pretty clever quote, too: Quote:

hud mod rocks, but there is a glitch on one of them, so whereever you aim with it, you will kill anyone within the crosshair

will tell the maker of it so they can fix it right lol
we use to have a good group of member who use to make hud mods for weapons and what was on your hud screen. they don't go for skin for bodys of players that is off-limit. think Steve (back then days he was call SteveB) think he made some real cool hud images to be use. cross hair mod is a bet off base for some.
