External Hard Drive vs online storage space

i feel better with in the home or office storage space use in External Hard Drive

i mean i don't need a 3rd party reading my files, lets says i write book and some 3rd party may see it in some online storage space like Microsoft Skydrive or Google drive for sample and there were some things in it may seem not right in the book, next i get some police officer knocking on my door

im i wrong to think this?
