thanks for pointing that out, it same for any antivirus, firewall, spam filter software, when they see a new item they jump on it, till then you have to wait and see.

many bugger got banned after a time they use them cheats tools. it take time thats all.

only thing PB scan is the things dealing with the game.

It was logged with ethereal that punkbuster actually SENT the contents of a txt file to its servers (presumably for further investigation) Now while in this case it wasnt a huge issue, as the text file was just some install data for a codec, it could have been much more serious. (Think tax information, Social securitys #’s, Finances, etc..)

PunkBuster sends a 2KB hash of the file to the server. As any self-respecting programmer will tell you, a hash is a one-way process and the original contents of the file are not recoverable.

Secondly, the checks we use are looking for specific files in the game directory with cheat names. They are not hunting around your computer for "tax information", "finances" etc - this is emotive language to try and grab attention. People do not keep their finances in the BF2 install directory with the same name as popular cheats. If that happens, then you will get kicked and a hash of the file taken. The original information is not sent.

PB is a paid service that many game MFG use if they think PB was doing something funny they will sue their company out real fast...

the FEDs paid Evenbalance even for the AA games as will. US-Army game online. so please get wise and stop listing to a hacker who is trying to fool others to not use PB at all by making up lies about them. gee

get this guys, some1 who im not going to name, decided to test the cheats from msx, they used them in a unranked server to see what they were about... and before returning to a ranked server removed the trainer and its registry entries, then during a game they got a hardware ban, how does that work? simple it scanned outside of BF2 files..

also it took 3 minutes for the person to get back on2 ranked servers (so much for hardware bans eh?)

the person could have been in the process of being banned. I read how it is possible to request a screen shot of the player, and end up getting a screen shot of that player in a different server: how it happened? the player left and joined an other server between the time it took the server to send out the command and for his game to send back the screen shot.


But any ways, no anti-cheat product is going to be perfect. But it is better then nothing. it at least keeps the casual cheater out.

Also, was it a global hardware ban? it is possible to just get a hardware ban for that server only.

punkbuster is global bans... if u get banned on JO, ur fooked on BF2 aswell

BB is right about that as will.

any games support by punkbuster, if a person is banned from one of their games they support its across the broad ban on all the games they supported.

by the way BB i found some of them items you talk about and there no way i can tell what the file name or the socall maker name is to look for. to many

i would love to search the file name or the maker of it. maybe some fool post it up some place.

seen like 3000ea of them items by all type of names and maker of them.

Unranked? I presume he ment a server where punkbuster was disabled, punkbuster works on both ranked and none ranked

but it worked fine on the non ranked, and whenever he went to a ranked one after uninstalling it, it kicked in..
