Wireless problem

Yo.

I'm using a linksys wireless router and I don't like using WEP encryption so I decided to enable MAC filtering. I changed the default password so it's not admin and everything was fine at first. As soon as I saved the MAC filtering settings and tried to log back in it would no longer accept my password to configure the router anymore. I'm trying to access the router settings wirelessly, if that's important at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If this needs moved to the tech section or whatever then go ahead, I just want it to be seen faster so I put it here.

Spazz you might have to use the reset button on the router...

what model is it?

Probably just typed the password wrong, or it didn't take so try the old one. If that fails press and reset button per your routers manual, download the latest firmware and try again.

I bet it's a WRT54G?

Not mine. I still have a v3 from years ago that still works even though I now use a dlink DIR-655 (which is awesome btw). I've replaced a few v5's for family and friends though..

OH yea? I've got a DLINK DGL-4500 GAMERLOUNGE! Kicks ass when comcast cable works! Works great for the PS3.

A flashed WRT54GL is one of the best routers on this planet, in my opinion. A real work horse

Yea I figured I'd have to reset the router. Oh well. I know I didn't type the password in wrong since it was taking it at first.

Maybe my Linksys just sucked because of the FW version.

It looked like crap compared to the settings on my ActionTec. Especially the firewall settings. It also had a weak broadcast signal compared to the actiontec.

Yeah the WRT54GL is an open source router that Linksys(CISCO systems) made especially for the modding community, it's built on linux instead of the more limited vxWorks (in Open Source aspect, as it's not open source heh). The WRT54GL (and none GL versions can be in limited form) reflashed with high end open source firmware such as my fav DD-WRT. Which is extreemly powerfull, has a full featured iptables firewall and alot more (got tired of all the feature that I only had stength to write write firewall). The WRT54GL can be modyfied (hardware) to add 2 GB of memory through memory card so you can have a apache webserver, ftp, samba etc

Has 35 pages of settings through the greatly designed webinterface, this excludes the subpages with settings within the 35 main pages. Bandwidth meeter, both a live and you can offcourse install an extra that loggs all trafic used. Loggs all access if wanted through the firewall. And much more. It's just awsome! It's also stable as it runs Linux. As the stats before tells, it's not been down once in 118 days and it would of been a year if I didn't have to take it down during lightning (I have no protection against it) and the times I rebooted it when configuring the firewall (doesn't have to be rebooted)

Oh and you can of course configure all the 4 lan and 1 wan port as you want (you can make Wan port to a lan port and a lan port to a wan port and also make one lan port only access the local network in your house or vice versa, the possabilities are endless!
