I've found problems extracting sound files from dfx2, format changed somehow.
Maybe better to wait for Angel Falls.

Do you mean that the WAV files have other formats or different header?
AFAIK, Novalogic used certain tools to compress WAV (sound files) and DDS (texture files) to save a bit of space on it's PFF files. Compressed Nova files have a header of 'BFC', you can decompress these files with the BFCExtractor tool. You can find this tool here: http://www.novahq.net/?show=utilitie...ew_files&id=32
Regards..

That's a great tool. Also, try the Fwo-raven pff extractor !

All soundfiles have to be decompressed before you can play them.
Btw ... Spinny, Dashie, Skinny and I have already decompressed all those .wav files and transcripted them to a text file.

Free sound file editor (Audacity) says, "bad header".
The dds files in DFX2 seem to be outmoded by another format or linked file/data source in the .PFF..........Will try the BFC extractor

Evil Fembot by Swifty, now thats UGLY....we get women with hairy upper lips here in North Aussie, maybe the reason why we drink so much, then again the artist was SWIFT...???

Stomp please do not confuse .dds with audio file....is a skin file, or grafic image used to cover a 3d object....I prefer DDS convertor is free is very good, on ALL stuff out of DFX/1.. I always snap BFC extract before I edit,(almost like an UNZIP) don't think any of these DFX1 tools will work on DFX2 yet....wait and see

correction: I do and have used Fwo-raven pff extractor on DFX2 but is slow
pp my sound/audio tool is the aussie 'wave pad', about the same as Audacity

Hi Stomp:
At df reload or is it df barracks? EE has some great tutorials on editing and generl manipulation of Nova assets, I think he works in MAX soget ready tosell the house and car, no joke.
Doc(now dead) from txp(now dead) worked in Milkshape as did I, but that was back in bhd days, again with DFX/1 used an app, to convert it back to bhd 3d, used plugin, 3d to ase? once as .ase open and edit in milkshape, then re export to dfx/1 via bhd
long winded BUT WORKED, milk shape is a breeze, but you will need the version for the plugin that was built for....1.72 I think, might be easier stomp to go do a tafe class in max....?

If I've got it right, It's easier to create ugly than beautiful. (Both must be entirely subjective interpretations though.)

It's easier to create ... However all creativity is subjective TO interpretation...
the eye of the beholder and all that......

Stomp should you find any NEW tools on editing DFX2 besure to make a post.
thanks in advance

Silly me. With all the work already done I simply call the wave files with the WAC. For me the temptation of mucking about with existing material is high.

Swifty,
There are a few DDS files in DFX2 but global gremlins creep in if you edit them.
