I just tested the map editor, and found it to be a piece of cake! You just have to do things in a certain order, so as not to freeze things up... For example, if you open nile, and try to place an object, nile will freeze. You have to first select a terrain. The terrain normall takes about 10-30 seconds to load, so be patient. After the terrain loads, you can switch into 3D mode, and insert any objects. Creating a map in 3D mode is MUCH easier than creating a map in 2D mode, because you can see what the map is going to look like before you actually open JO. So I would recommend running in 3D mode unless your computer isn't fast enough.

the first few versions have been simply a waste of time for me...but finally with version .50 everything is working fine here and its not jerky anymore ! Editing maps needs longer because i am not used to the keyboard commands* and must simply find the different possibilities first

(*which they could have made same like old ed`s imho...but u can customize controls...)

But now i must say....its a big jump into the right direction ... easy for newcomers and useable for veterans
