Animation on sigs?

Hey guys I'm having a problem putting animation on my sigs. I mean I know you use image ready and all that. The way I was told is you make the sig you want then you copy the merged format of that and make a new file and paste the merged copy on to that. then you design the image you want to be animated. Then you past that image on your sig and jump to image ready making sure you have 2 layers ur sig and your animated image and making sure you have the animated image layer selected. Then once in image ready you make sure your animated window is showing. From there you click the duplicate button. Then select the second image and then click the tween button. when the window pops up you choose with previous frame and however many frames you want made. That should make your image move from left to right for that set number of frames. Well when I do this and save it as a gif file and upload it on my sig hosting site the image doesn't show. Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong or tell me some good sites to go to for image ready tutorials? thanks alot.

less frames and less colours m8.
with animated sigs it`s a balancing act between smooth animation and file size
