build me a comp thats good .. but under $500

exclude mice and keyboard and monitor ... optical drives anndddd .. audio

preferably vista capable ... 64 bit

just parts .. and even a built tower if its work it

good for what -> media, storage, gaming?

getting a high persormance gfx card in that would be a nightmare... but just out of interest what resolution is your screen at?

so you need the following?

cpu
mobo
ram
psu
gfx card
case

its replacing a 6 year old comp that i'm not just gona buy a new hard drive for .. im gona try and reuse as much stuff as possible ..

i need:

mobo
cpu
gfx card
hard drive

...

damn .. can that really be it .. yea i guess so ..

so i guess mostly make your best suggestions on those :P

That may not be a good think depending on what they look like.

If you buy a new Mobo then you are most likely going to need new ram.

Thats a good selection Atholon, I have the E8400 in my second rig and it works a treat. if its a 6 year old rig hes upgrading he will need a power supply that will support the new hardware

they have a catch to it. one pay to ship it to them and pay upfront for any repair, if they can find out it was poor workmenship they will refund the money, other wise they will charge for repair work.

i been there with them

they will test it see if was over driven or a power short to it then they will charge money!

it's a 550 watt psu .. unless they changed the plugs i think im good on that ..

i duno .. i don't know whats worth it .. im thinkin about throwing a new harddrive in this one and just giving it to my parents and build me a new pc

even though i got a new laptop now that runs circles around most pc's .. i still want a pc haha

I know William I have an XFX 7900GS.

The cool thing about XFX is that they ship band new replacement parts. My friend's card and mine both died, we got brand new replacements and they work fine.

I bet 550 would work. I have 600W and it seems to do fine. You should see how big the 7900GS is. WOW!
