need help..

basically, i'm trying to set up my computer area such that when i want to use a keyboard on my laptop (the one i use for the PC) ... is there an easier way to kind of split the cable maybe so i don't have to keep switching it from the PC all the time?

the keyboard uses a USB connection.

will i can only think of two ways

radio control keybroad

a USB port in the front of the tower, if you have none you can buy a USP extrusion that plug in to the USB port on the back of the tower were it has a lead USB cable going to a USB Hob, this way you can unplug-it and plug it into your laptop with the key broad

there is a draw back to this, the tower has to close down to place the keyboard back in to it. has to do with the bois

you can have more then one keyboard or mouse plug-in the tower you should not get any errors i done it

there is a program called synergy - install it on both laptop/desktop.

You move your mouse to one side of the screen, the mouse/keyboard input is switched to the other computer.

I used to control my desktop from my laptop with it.

of course, your computers need to be networked together for it to work properly.

it is free - http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

More expensive, a Keyboard Video Mouse switch (or if available a Kyboard Mouse switch) - I have a KVM for controlling my desktop computers with one mouse/keyboard/monitor... I can press scroll lock twice, then a numbers 1-4 and jump to an other computer. Would also require getting additional cables to hook the switch to the computers (some do come with them already).

I would try synergy, it is really nice, I'm going to get it re-installed again.

Synergy is good, me and my mate tried it out before.

We didn't use a keyboard to controll both pc's tho, just the mouse.

I have a bluetooth mouse and I plan on getting a BT keyboard....then I don't even have to plug anything in except for the power.
