Oh No!
This is a quote from an ad in a computer magazine.
"some game types and features may require a premium subscription service".

damn so back comes this rumour.
as much as i want the game i cant be bothered if this happens. plenty more games under the sun. i think if they do this they sign their own death warrant. |

I thought that "premium service" meant that an internet connection or a cable modem was required. Didn't think you would have to "Pay to Play" If so you won't see me on the battlefield.

good point that maybe they mean like a premium(in the meaning of an high-end)internet service.
i read an article some time ago where it was said no extra charges would be made on top of buying the game. lets hope so. |

well that is what is on a 2 page spread official Ad.
But it could also mean they are only availible to rented servers, As I have noticed on the Official Site they have a Rented Server Tab on the site. But hey there is only 4 weeks till release in the US im sure, Someone will say something on the subject.

The Quote I originally posted was from the US issue of PC Gamer but In PC Format UK Issue the Text is Not the same on the Small Print, So I think you can all breath easy... There is no mention of a Premium Service....

Just to Give the Good News on this matter...

That's good news Sal but what does "you don't have to pay for 150 player games" mean exactly?

Here is what I think! With my 1Meg connection Because my upload speed is 256k my Max Players I can host is 6, So with that in mind and if you have visited the Official Joint Operations site they have a Rent Server Tab that is not Active yet. I think this is where the Payments come in, As most will not be able to host Big Servers you will have to rent one, Most Squads now will not be able to host Matches in JO with their home PC, Even with a 512k upload max players is 11. This doesnt really worry me as I Enjoy making maps more than Actually playing the games, But it does Remind me of being back on DF2 with 56k modem hosting 6 players.

I am certain that the comment on premium service means you wont get logged on to a big server if you connect at sod all speed.
You could (just) get away with connecting to BHD on a 56k. Clearly not any more. |
