How do i edit the death messages

EX Bob Sent Joe to the ground.

how do i do that?

Lets say Joe and bob are playing the game...

Bob Killed Joe

i would like it to say in the right top to say Bob is happy that he killed Joe

and so on

I remember in one of .ex.'s DF2 SSs rather than ''Kills'' and ''Deaths'' it had ''Pwned'' and ''Noobed'' lol.

the file is located in localres.pff, and is called gametext.bin


you will need the pff extracter to open up the pff file and extract the file.

You will also need the .bin editor (both of which are available in novahq's BHD utilities download section).


the death messages start around item 922.



Change at your own risk (lol, I just changed some, testing it out now)

update: changing the death messages will only effect what you see. For every one to see it they will also have to have the customized Gametext.bin file.

just beware, since the file has been modified, it may raise red flags in official novaworld servers that result in a ban.

Don't know. 1 way would be to request the client to send a md5 or cr32 value of the file to the server, if it doesn't match a known value for stock files.

Just speculating.

who knows what tools novalogic has.

Nova probably have a tool to see if things are ''balanced''. E.g: it'll check if you've got the same death messages, same HUD, etc.

Dunno, but some people can get away with it. Some people use No-CD patches also and they are sometimes not punted lol. Well, lucky dudes lol.

BTW, how do you add more death messages? I was thinking of doing something lol.

ok, i have moded the death messages and the hud and use a NO cd patch and play on NWS servers and do not get kicked or baned at all so it looks like they are not getting/checking the files

I just used the ''BIN2TXT'' utility and I converted Gametext.bin to Gametext.txt and now I'm gonna slip in a few death messages lol.

Bob sent Jakob to HELL

Ok, now Jakob killed Bob with a shot to the head, it would say...

Jakob killed Bob with a shot to the brain

and so on
