Anything to do to disable the Scope Elevation from ** AUTO ** ???

Please Answer here if you like this option ... personally I hope Novalogic can correct this or add an option on the server side to allow Manual/Auto adjustment for the scope .... this can help the realistic of the game !!

I voted that I like it.
But to the question of whether or not I want it?
No.
I see where nova is going with the new way in which they deal with player classes, but personally I quite like being able to run faster as CQB AND pick up a sniper rifle if the occasion demanded. It was a skill you needed to develop and thats gone.

The black dot syndrome is past now and thats a good thing but its far to easy to shoot someone with a snipe rifle.
The other night a TDM match I hosted was only about finding someone before they found you.
Thats Hide and Seek not deathmatch.
I quite liked it when you had to be damn sure you were going to hit otherwise all you would be doing is explaining to your opponent exactly where you were.

Having said that I really enjoy the fact that I can get cheap kills just by hanging back from the action and easily picking people off.
But I agree it detracts from the point of the game made great by LW.

The other point of course is that if someone is running across the top of a hill more than 100 metres away you have to lead whilst pointing into the air behind the hill so the automatic elevation goes to infinite so you miss.

I think it would be great to put it to manual. Right now most CTF maps are just two teams of 8 with 7 snipers on each side.

I think the auto simply makes aiming too easy. It would be great to have snipers really have to learn skills to fight.

I think it should be a server option. I also think it makes sniping too easy.

Good reply Zz

I prefered the time when it took a lot more skill to wield a sniper rifle.

& playing as a medic it was good to have the option of sniping for a fair part of the match then ditching the .50 for a mag (or M60 in TFD) & running in to help out in the thick of things near the end of a map...I miss that

my problem with scope elevation is a little different.
in df2 (LW too) the scope didnt cover the whole screen, so you could also see whats going on outside your scope. thats not the case in BHD, so i zoom in/out a lot.
and without the need to adjust the scope manually, i ended up with zoom instead of elevation on the mousewheel (damn, two wheels would be cool).
i don't really like that, but this game is much more playable this way.

i'd also like to see this as a server-side option.

I personally like the auto adjusting scope elevation. I am an experienced sof2 player so I also like the scope covering the whole screen I always had problems sniping in LW.

Sup Reece! I think the sniper on DF:BHD is a lot different than the ones on SoF2. Mostly because on SoF2 no maps are large enough that it becomes almost impossible to take out well hidden snipers.

It's the fact that players wil run to the outskirts of the map and then spawn kill...and have no need to have any skill with the weapon, it's simply point and shoot.

Also, DF:BHD is more "realistic" than SoF2, so it'd be great to have the sniper rifle behave realisticly. Realisticly, you couldn't even fire the Barrett from a standing position (unless you were the Hulk).

I'm a huge SoF2 fan, and even help admin a league for it...but I really think the sniper rifle in DF:BHD needs a different treatment and should have no auto elevation.

Ya, I went to one of those gun and knife shows and saw a Barett. OMG, the thing is HUGE! The guy selling them said that in the military its actually a two man team that carries the damn thing!

.

This should be patched so the host can set the option of Auto or Manual Elevation.I'm an old DF2 and LW Sniper and this was a skill.

To easy and cheezy to be a sniper now.

heh true Nev, true.

You're right Oblivian, they do usually have a two man crew for that weapon. It weighs roughly 30 pounds unloaded and was originally created to penetrate armor, such as on APC's and helicopters.

Sadly, in DF:BHD, it's just used by some guy who ran for 10 minutes out on the map, turned around, and is now shooting you whenever you spawn.
