i can't start the lw map ediditor

like the title says, i can't start it. i am running it on xp so whenever i try to open it, it comes up and says "DFLWMEDC.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." i have tried reinstalling and rebooting and updating, and everything, but it still doesn't work.
