Castle at night

Went for a car ride yesterday with my camera to the old castle about 10 km from where I live, it was a somewhat eerie feeling, all alone and the only sound was the ice blocks grinding making a almost whale like sound. The castle is "famous" for being haunted but I've never seen it myself But workers there have plenty of stories of encounters

Eerily, it looks exactly as I imagined as a youngster reading The Tales Of The Brothers Grimm or some such similar.

The match to the image in my minds-eye is uncanny and gives me lots of Deja Vu

So sweet like candy and yet the feeling of foreboding overwhelms one as the aura seems to grow, conjuring mysterious thoughts and feelings overwhelming any desire
to be further acquainted.

Thats right Chief! It's not a royal castle, or actually it was Gustav Vasas castle for around 3 years, the Swedish king of the time, but it's known as Count Magnus De la Gardie's castle who was a staff of the royal family during the 1600s and the castle itself is over 700 years old since the first buildings ware erected that later over time was built into this castle

Really intersting! My image of a castle was the pink castle in disney when I was a kid.

My interest in the history and buildings of old times have however increased the older I get and I can tell you that it's a weird feeling walking around in there, it's like going back 400 years, and you can almost feel the people who lived in that time in the walls of the castle and the hunger for war that they had.

Perhaps there is something to the worldwide concept of a location or building etc having a feeling or aura embedded, is it just our knowledge of the history therein or a real perception of past events and people calling to us from unknown origins.

Pretty cool! I've always wanted to go over to Europe to see the castles. Maybe someday.

Don't forget to take a peek in Scotland if you can, the castles there are not generally as spectacular in size as in Europe but for the sheer presence of malevolence and a dated and primitive feel, they are tops.

I like to think it's a bit of both

when i was stationed in bentwaters england i got a chance to go to a few castles.
I only remember one real well. Two Lt.'s and i (Capt.) was in one where it felt like i was always being touched on the ear (my two friends were ahead of me at the time). when the got back to the base i told our housekeeper about it but, she justed smiled and walked away.

Well this little diversion could easily make a new thread altogether.
Creepy-Castle stories would be rare amongst the users here I'd say but what about all the other creepy events we have all experienced?
