How about Media Extender to be used with Vista Home Premium?

With Netflix signing on to the 360 streaming there's really no reason to pay 35$ for a blu-ray movie.

I don't think they'll release it with a blu-ray or an attachment anytime soon. I think there going to focus on pushing the streaming hd content through netflix and their own movie service...

PS3 costs more originally but the 360 will nickle and dime you to death. You have to buy a wireless adapter, pay for online play, pay for the batteries in the controllers, etc.

PS3 = free wireless, free online play, rechargeable controllers

I would go for the PS3.

I happen to know you have little interest at the moment in playing games online.
I also know you have tiny almost baby-like hands.

Therefore the piss poor PS3 is ideal for you.

Online service that is FREE! (But clumsy, laggy and generally bad so you don't really have any fun playing on it)

Tiny Tiny controller that are only playable with hands like yours.
Rather than have designers look at the practical side of gaming control, Playstation have used that Sony utility they so often return to, arrogance.
Thinking their original design near perfect they have done nothing to bring fine control to the 21st century prefering to simply add a Wii style movement sensor into their 'classic' design.

Let's be clear. If you are interested in playing games - get a 360
If you are interested in owning a library of HD moives get a blu-ray player.

If PS3 is cheaper than the Blu Ray players that are available then get a Playstation but don't buy one thinking you are getting the best of all worlds.
Free service is not a better service. Besides that - the damn things ugly.

When I owned both it literally only ever got turned on to play whichever Pixar movie I wanted to watch on Blu Ray.

i've received three "new" ones from microsoft, and all have broken on me. and each time i sent it in .. it took like three months to get it back.

two of my friends each are also waiting right now for another broken refurbished one.

and to pay to play online .. screw that. it's not any faster than ps3's connection, and plus for ps3 it's free. i remember having to drag a cat5 cable across my house when i wanted to play online with the 360 because it wasn't wireless, either.

and microsoft can kiss my ass after they tried to take fifty dollars out of my account to renew their crappy service. i didn't even have my system, i gave it to my brother (which has been collecting dust at his place because it broke once again) and they still tried talking me into keeping the service? what the hell?

Your launch system will go eventually. You'll be screwed because it'll be out of warranty. Sucks for you when it happens.
