close call

today i had one ... me and pops were stranded 25 nautical miles offshore today ... thank god for towboatUS, and if we weren't members it would of cost about $2 grand for the tow back in

oh and no we didn't catch anything. nothing. went out at seven, expected to get back in around 5 or 6, didn't get home until 11. six and a half hours of being towed behind another boat. good thing we had plenty of beer..

so what's something dicey that happened to you?

Would defenetly be my worst nightmare, being stranded out on the water. Never been a fan of water and it's somewhat of a fobia of mine, it's the dark unknown, under the surface of the water (no not the animales living there, the water itself, in other words drowning )

I was close to being hit by a highspeed train once, the operator forgot to switch the tracks so the train came at around 125 mph behind a bend but we managed to get off the track just in time. Lesson lernt, never trust an operator!

I can't think of any right off the bat. but you can ask my pa. he has lots of close call stories from when he was a kid.

Like when he went pranking with a friend of his. they would ring this guys door bell and run and hide. after doing it for awhile, the guy came out with a shotgun shooting at them. LOL

Then him and the same friend came across an old rail car. they snooped around inside and found what they thought was dynamite. after trying to actually light them, it turned out to be flares. LOL, I don't wanna think about what would've happened it it was real TNT.

I could go on and on.....

only thing got me scare like hell and yes we all ran like hell, going out with some German army personnel (8 of them) hunting for wild boar 45mile out in the country side from any town.

we found them and it was pitch black meddle of the night. only there were 6-10 of (they turn on us) fully grown wild boar 600-800pounds (we kill 4 of them). gutted them and hang them on the wall. yes we use military weapons me M16 and buddy use shotgun with slugs

i end up killing one with my large hunting knife

Nov/ 1985

did not have a chance to use my M16 they was so close to us and totally wild action. would i do it again dame right its was a blast!

that was the most i ever got my heart racing and i was scare of being gutted by them or kill.

Was snowboarding real fast and this asshole cut in front of me on skis, could barely get out of the way, knocked the skier down, he got mad, but whatever, his fault. Good thing for my agility, according to my friends, i am as agile as melted chocolate when i'm on my snowboard, lol.

The boat thing wasn't the first time that happened to me. The first time we were stranded a little farther off shore because both the batteries died. It was my brothers fault because he left the ignition on the whole time while we were diving and no one noticed it. You can control which battery is providing power... so it goes 1, 2, or both. of course it was set on both.

So with no radio you're left with only flares .. which worked thank God (we did have to wait there for a long ass time waiting for another boat to come by). Now a days they have satellite phones you can buy, but they're mad expensive. Probably worth it though :\

we always bring a bunch of tools with us off-shore because the chance of having to screw around with the engine is high .. it's a carburated 350 chevy block that always needs tinkering for some reason
---

now one of the closest calls ever for me was also off shore ... this was some truly scary **** for me.

Me and my dad came up after about a half hour dive from about 100 feet .. only to see the boat a good distance away ... which totally sucks but isn't uncommon ... the only way to avoid this is if you're one of those doucebags that carry 10,000 dollars of equipment with them underwater, including a GPS.

Anyways ... so with only an empty steel scuba tank (which weights way more than a full one in water), a spear gun, and a weight belt, we have to start swimming our asses back ... the fins make it easier but it's still hard work. The problem starts when my brother and mom start looking for us by pulling the anchor and moving the boat .. IN THE WRONG ****ING DIRECTION... like .. really wrong direction. I don't know what the hell they were thinking because they were no where near where we initially started ... long story short we nearly ****ing drowned by the time they turned around and looked from where we were at. needless to say, we ditched the weight belts...

This is the exact reason why they have BC's (really fancy life jackets) but we didn't have any at the time

my friend had the closest call of his life a few years ago.

ok, so my one friend, let's call him Joe, was having a birthday party a few years ago. One of my other friends, lets call him Jeff, saw a sword hanging on the wall (he's the dumbass of the group) he grabs it and swings it around, but, the blade came out, and went flying across the room, right at my third friend (called John, here anyways), he ducked just in time and the blade stuck right into the wall, he woulda died cuz it was going towards his head...scary s***
