BOIS upgrade any one knows anything about this

i am clueless need to upgrade my AGP4X to AGP8X like to know is there a way to do this?

think it has to do with the mother broad not 100% if that is true or not.

my GF4 is AGP8X and like to see if i can upgrade by ether upgrading the BOIS or some other way getting it upgraded.

basic this is what i can find out:
"Pentium 4 BIOS update GB85010A P13" dated: 9/17/2001
for Windows Xp Family, but it set to AGP 4X and not for AGP 8X

You need to find out what motherboard you have and look on the manufacturers web site for a manual or technical info.

Some bios's allow you to select or auto-detect the AGP but if your motherboard was designed for 4x only you can't change it to 8x.

There are software and hardware (voltage) differences.

Your board uses 1.5v to power the 4X display board, I think 8x use .8v .
Probably other differences as well.
Looks like you're stuck running at 4X.

Not sure if you will notice much increase in frame rates as your cpu will probably be the main bottleneck.

If you are going to upgrade you should go with PCI-E but no real dramatic diffrences they STill make great 4/8X Agp cards.

my BOIS can only handle AGP4X i was trying to see if there a way get it upgraded to AGP8X, but there only one way is replace the Mother Broad totally do it the united were never meant to handle the power flow it need for AGP8X.

i have a GFX Card it is AGP8X but it all so work on AGP4X but it be better anyways get a bare bone kit, get a lot of upgrades hardware to it and add-in new items i can add to it.
