Hosting at home

Is there a way to set up your own host other than via the LAN settings within the game itself? Meaning, If I would like to host a game for a couple of my friends to play could I set up to do that and if so, how? I already know how to use the LAN features, my son and I play here at home on 2 seperate machines all the time, but we would like to be able to let some others into our games without having to rent a server. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

u can set up your own game threw novaworld and host a game put a password on if its just for freinds if not leave it open more people will join

Well yeah it is possible. For your Speed it's about 2 or 4 players MAX. And your friends need a copy. Not the same game. Not the same serial. Ok?
