i think that the med version 2.00i or 2.00h or 2.00 they need MEd.dll or MEDITEMS.bin.

Holy Cow! I added the /d switch and it all works now!

I have some old projects to revive now and add to the long list of maps in progress mmmmmmmm... when they start coming out there will a fair few in succession. For BHD, DXF2 and an AW2 Mod map

The bin works (your bin) if you add the switch as so (you know)
to your shortcut to the game.

Example:
"C:\Program Files\Novalogic\dfbhd.exe" /d

Oh for f**k's sake.

Yeah. The slash-d tag. It's really the basis for the truly expansive MED and mod experiences in DFBHD. I always keep forgetting that some people don't know about it. Every time I see someone discovering it, I remember that story I read about the DAU that called tech support 'cause his computer wouldn't start, and doesn't mention 'til the very end of the call - after the tech went through every possible imaginable trouble-shooting point - that he can't see if the power cable is plugged in 'cause the socket is behind his desk and he can't turn the lights on 'cause of the power outage.

Tech supprt can't smell if the power is down in your area.

Now, if you try to turn your computer on in a blackout, you're an idiot. Tech support cannot make you not an idiot. If you MED and mod without the /d, you're just ill-informed, and a good advisor would always think to mention that first.

Yet I still forget to. Sorry. Sometimes, I get the dumb, and I can't brain.

/d, people. It's the key to happiness. I'll try not to forget that from now on.

Thank's Baldo, I've only used it to activate mods never thought of applying it to the main exe to run a Bin Daaah! and you don't need to pack (done by creating a .bat file or run from a command prompt) the bin into a pff unless you a making a full mod by the looks of it, which leads to a question.

If I make a small "mod" to the game can I just pack the new files into a small pff (small enough to include in regular map upload zip file)?

:EDIT:
PS not needed to load bin file in DFX2 so users do not generally need to be aware of it, I mainly map in DFX2

Still another question for Baldo The Don. (sorry for stealing your thread Luis) can you tell us anything about the [Triggered Text] item in the stock BHD bin above? RE: post #31

On the side I'm going to check out the Crysis2 Mod SDK

I've made maps in FarCry2 but they are Multiplayer only - no AI.

I need AI editing to be truly interested. I'm not well trained enough to make my own games from scratch, even using someone else's engine and so the reason I truly love what Novalogic has done.

The concept and assembly of the various components are thoughtful and relatively easy to use. The syntax they use for the application of the Boolean logic is human readable.
Fantastic! Did I say I love it?

Yes, to the end

that question is not for me but i think i can help u
with triggered text u can add texts messages (i.e PROCEED NORTH) and use the MED option called Output Text X (x= the ID u used in the bin file) .
The texts appears in yellow,
but u can use .wac for white texts and also yellow
I hope Baldo will get an better answer cause my english is not so good and i don't like google translate lol.

Boa sorte !!
Luis

I've got this little 700kb crocket.pff. Just a fun little thing. AT4 fire crocodiles and the .45 has "Runaway" heat-seeking smart bullets.

So, yeah, little .pffs are cool.

Also, /d tags on the MED allows for all kinds of fun stuff. I edited the items.def and meditems.bin and medmssn.bin to rename all the items so they group better to make them easier to find, and to expand the list of waypoint names.

Luis pretty much nailed it. Triggered text messages are really annoying to work with, though. I prefer .wac text.

The trouble with .wac texts is that you have to make sure there are no more than 63 characters between the double-quotes in each text line. Text lines longer than that will crash the game at about 95% into loading the mission.

Code:
if ontick 3 then
      ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
text "Add a line of commenters above the text lines you're working on"
text "and make sure you're using a monospace font like courier new or"
text "lucida console (my favorite!) makes it easy to watch the limit."
endif

if ontick 12 then
/<-- Do not exceed 63 characters between the double-quotes! ->\
consol "Basically, type seven commenters, then copy and paste that"
consol "group of seven nine times, text ruler complete! Although, as"
consol "you can see above, there is some flexibilty to be had."
endif

if ontick 12 then
      ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
text "Then Baldo said, ''You can use two single quotes in a text line"
text "to quote a speaker or whatever.'' Also, avoid starting a text"
text "line with a single letter I, it causes an indent and line break"
endif

if ontick 21 then
      ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
text "to appear on the HUD for soem reason, and can throw off your"
text "carefully grouped triple text lines."
endif
Aynway, triggered text messages don't have that 63 character limit.
