Angry Games Hang

PC should be the Mutz Nutz....If games would run long enough for me to play it.

3 Maxtor 120GB hard drives (two that are SATA and stripe Raided)
Asus A7N8X Delux Mother board
Barton 2500+
Radeon 9700pro
1024 Corsair Twinx Memory (Dual Channel)
Windows XP

ALL!! games will hang after about 10 mins play if that.

Delta Force-BHD, GTA 2 and Vice, Alien Vs Pred 1+2.

Bench marks (Mad Onion 3DMark) are all stable I have all updates you can get.

The only game that works is Risk 2.

Now windows says it the graphics card at fault......failed to draw so gets caught in an endless loop..........

STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER

Anybody got any ideas.......An idiots guide?......one with pictures perhaps???

I've got latest drivers.....

I sometimes get a similar error when running certain programs. It only happens to may 2 - 3 applications that I hardly use anyway so for me it's not a major problem. Once I started getting it I did some digging around and it seems to happen to a very small percentage of Radeon users running XP.

Good news is, you may be able to fix it. Bad news is, you seem to be one of the unlucky few who have this problem with most applications (

First stop would be to check out what ATI has to say about it. Check it out HERE .

Next try a google search using the exact error message. It should turn up quite a few results that might be helpful in tracking down the problem.

One way I have used to fix the problem for one specific app (Fraps 2.0) is to run it in Win98 compatibility mode. Give it a try and see what happens. Good Luck!
