Mike, I'm curious as to your thoughts and opinions on the relatively sudden rise of China and what it might mean to the world

Well, I think ... ... China has not "SUDDENLY" risen. It has kept its head down and worked slowly to get there. Of course, our capitalists have helped 'em a lot. Providing jobs to millions. I don't think we should be surprised at all.

Now, in geo-political context, I believe China has excellent relations with Pakistan for one, which provides China total access to its ports. In fact, Pakistan has "handed over", so to say, administrative control of a small port city of Gawadar to China. Furthermore, China's role in transfer of Technology and military transfer to Pakistan was the major factor in this decision.

For those "geographically challenged" map of Asia.

Bravo! I hadn't thought of Pakistan, but it's so logical.

And I said relatively, because their steep economic rise has only been in the last 20-30 years. I firmly believe it is mostly the fault of the US, but I'm sure there's more than just USD flowing into that country.

I really enjoy our discussions about politics. You wouldn't believe how nice it is to come here and be able to talk about this to someone who makes a point to be educated in these matters.

Well we have or had bases Far Eastern countries, Japan, Philipenes, and S. Korea to name some. Hence, it's obvious we'd invest in those countries. But, due to our shifting interesting from Far East to Middle East, we'd decreased the size of our investment and interest in that region. Local elements of each country pay a major roll in how it absorbs the foreign capital. Some flurish like previously known "Asian Tigers" did, and some make a slow and steady progress, i.e. China. So, what it comes down to is how much RED TAPE exists and how the local governments control the dissemination of foreign capital in the local industries.

Puppets I don't do...that means you'd have to have your hand stuck up my anal cavity, and though you might go for that, I'm not into that sort of thing

While we're talking politics I was reading that there's a sect based post election struggle going on in Kyrgyzstan, majority Kyrgy are Sunni Muslims and minority Kurds (Shiath sect), yep same ones in power in Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq, possibly, making trouble in Syria, Saudi, and with Trukey.

Our intellience and military is "courting" with them, over throwing local Sunni majority governments and then creating unstable local minority based governments which we can dictate. Sounds like a plan to another disaster to me. Reminds me of 60s and 70s.
