Windows Patches (again)

As part of its monthly patching cycle, Microsoft plans to release on Tuesday one security bulletin for the Windows operating system.

The security bulletin is deemed "critical," Microsoft's highest risk rating, the company said in a notice posted on its Web site on Thursday. Last month's "Patch Tuesday" included nine bulletins covering 14 Windows flaws. Some of the patches have caused trouble for users since their Oct. 11 release.

Microsoft rates as critical any security threat that could allow a malicious Internet worm to spread without any action required on the part of the user.

Microsoft's notice did not specify which component of Windows is being repaired in Tuesday's bulletin or how many flaws the update will deal with. Security researchers have several unpatched flaws outstanding with Microsoft. For example, eEye Digital Security lists eight vulnerabilities on its Web site for which it considers fixes overdue.

Previous Next In addition to the Windows security fixes, Microsoft also plans to issue at least two updates that it deems high priority, but that are not security-related, the company said.

Furthermore, as it does every month, a new version of the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool will be released. The tool detects and removes malicious code placed on computers.

Microsoft gave no further information on Tuesday's bulletins, other than stating that the Windows update will require restarting the computer.

The Redmond, Wash., software giant provides information in advance of its monthly patch release day, which is every second Tuesday of the month, so people can prepare to install the patches.

Microsoft said it will host a Webcast about the new fixes on Wednesday at 11 a.m. PDT.

Windows Xp update?
Update for WMDRM-enabled Media Players (KB902344)
Download size: 614 KB , less than 1 minute
Install this update on your PC if you use a portable device that accesses subscription media content protected by Windows Media Digital Rights Management. After you install this update, you may have to restart your computer.

Details:
SYMPTOMS
Some portable devices may take 30 seconds or longer to start playing back a piece of content when the portable device must enumerate the license store. Typically, this problem occurs when you play subscription content that is protected by Microsoft Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM) that uses chained licenses.

CAUSE
This problem occurs because the computer incorrectly sends duplicate root licenses to the portable device. This causes the playback startup performance to decrease because the portable device is forced to enumerate duplicate root licenses.

If the root license already exists on the portable device, the computer should only send the updated leaf license.

all software programs have their bugs to them.
from: firewalls, windows operations systems, anti-virus and so on even Linux has it bugs but not as many.

it the people who trying to break it down to do other what it was made to be use as.
very bad hackers look for cracks in the software to use against people on the INTERNET.

the INTERNET was at first to be a very safe place for all INTERNET users will that was the ID, but like all thing there going to be some bad with the good.

Its like living in a very big city there going to be drug users and there going to be some bank robbers who don't care at all, only the INTERNET is so big its world wide and there are many bad guys out there who don't care about good hearted people or kids they burn all, to have there ways. same for people who pirate software to others. so no one have to pay for it, in some case i seen sites they even charge a fee to get these pirated software. there so many things that are bad about the INTERNET and some things that are good for INTERNET users. it a war good vs bad INTERNET users.

Microsoft is only one of many getting hit and have to come up with new ways to fight it, with patch's and some time a general update is normal. remember they made the fixes for free for all at no cost to end users. so be happy they even do it at all. Windows Xp came out in 2002 its around 3yrs old now and they still making updates for it. that in my book is great i only hope they keep it up for next 2-3yrs
