depends on your budget m8

Creative coundcards are pretty solid IMHO

Creative Sound Blaster Live! LS 5.1 Digital - £15
Creative Sound Blaster Digital 5.1 - £25
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy LS - £50
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 THX - £80

(sry UK prices here)

the last one would be great if you had 7 speakers but not worth it oterwise. and to be honest you probably wont be able to tell the difference in the sound quality of the others. they come with more and more features you probably dont need

trust me its a total kick ass card, more then worth the money once you get used to it and have speakers for it

My AC97 works fine m8, go to there website and look for the VIA 4in1 Driver and try that for your sound, it worked for me.

I have all my drivers updated to the best of my knowledge. I am using the MSI live updater for a K7T266 Pro 2 mb.

Thanks for your help. I got the drivers but i think the problem was in a splitter switch i had for my speakers and my headphones. Once i went around the switch and a few other things i got it working ok without the noise. I appreciate your assistance.
