background and foreground colors ?

What exactly do they do? I use it if I have two colors I'm regularly using so I can switch back and forth easily

When you have photoshop up, there are the two color squares, default black and white. The black is the foreground (if you hover over it) and the white is the background. You can click a little arrow near them to switch them around.

You can use them in Cloud Filter, both colours used at the same time can make a good base for a background.
