Far Cry 2 questions

well hopefully someone here is a FC 2 expert.

I'm thinking about buying the game. but at 50 bucks per copy I think I need to ask some questions first LOL.

#1 how are the missions set up? is it one big terrain where you ride or move to your mission (which would be cool) or does it have a campaign system?


#2 Does it really have sexual content? if so then that sucks.


#3 does it really have large area's full of wild animals?

that's all I can think of for now. I'l post more when they come across my mind LOL.

1 big map, really big.
You get mission after mission with the various cleanup / recon / pickup missions.

What sexual content? haven't seen any locals without upper clothing...
And why should that be a turn down? The world is evolving, so are games :P

Large area yes, full of animals? nah, there could be more..
And the animals are dumb, sometimes they try to run away, hit your vehicle and die...

You occasionally run into a gang in a jeep and they drive after you firing at you and trying to ram you off the road, which i found pretty cool ;P

I am a bit disapointed in the game.
Every time you drive to a different village you have to fight though road checkpoints/crossroads or get attacked by jeeps.
It ges boring after a while.

and the reason I don't want sexual content is cuz that's really not my cup of tea. I hate games that are bassed on sex drugs and lust. I want war!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!

I'm playing the FC 1 demo now. I love the rag dolls! but seriously, would it have killed them to add some REAL iron sights. simply zooming in really sucks. it's pretty tough.

I noticed in the FC 2 vids that it has real iron sights so that's cool.

yeah the guns in FC2 are pretty cool. It took me a while to get used to the AK, because it's held weirdly, but it's all good (H)

Hey what about the Map editor?

is it easy to use and can you make singleplayer maps?

I don't think you can make single player maps, because the single player is based around the one giant map, but I may be wrong.

And the map editor is amazing, very easy to use. Even I built a map, and I'm a moron.

well I hope you can make SP maps. I can't play MP cuz of a slow connection. so SP will be the only thing I get out of this game.

you can't make SP maps from the map editor, its strickly mp.

That is stupid. I am not getting it. Screw MP maps I want a single player mission editor....well there is always OFP2 in three months.

There's no way of making singleplayer maps for farcry 2, because the 'missions' are set in the same world space, so you couldnt integrate your missions.

i know some game the singleplayer maps you could make new singleplayer maps, but you would have to name them the same name already made and replace the stander maps

one make a new sp-map and replace the older sp-maps, by using the same name sp-map this don't always work all the time, but there is an small chance it could work

i know in FarCry 1st some made mods (MOTTO-4) with total new sp-mission for the game

FC2 doesn't even have mod tools lol. ^

FC2's single player can get really repetitive (seriously). The SP is crammed full of quantity though (loads of side missions, etc. etc.).

Multiplayer suffers from balancing issues and a patch to "fix this all" is yet to come this month...

On my honour, anyone who is thinking of getting this game because of the cool vids should stop NOW. It is a terrible game.
Regardless of the bugs that can often make it unplayable, it is repetetive in the extreme.
All missions are much the same and to get to them, you have to do the same thing over and over and over again.
Clear a check point, go round the corner and come back and all the dudes are there again.
They all look the same, they all drive the same car, they all shoot the same gun.
This game was an excercise in fanastic PR. They managed to sell a game based on cut scenes.
Not since the horrific days of the PS1 have we seen such poor quality gameplay sold on the back of NPC cut scenes.

But I am glad I bought it just for the graphics. Its fun to just jump on now and then and mess around blowing things up ^^


And they made such a big deal about the fire... but I think the fire in COD5 looked more realistic..
