Opinions Flash or JS?

Need some opinions, i want to implement a feature for the site, what I want to do is show a japanese sword, and let people using a color picker choose colors for different parts of the sword (scabbard, handle etc etc) so they can see what color themes will work for customizing and the like...

I figure i have 2 options, get a flash app developed or use Javascript, im looking for opinion on which one i should use, I have no idea about either flash or JS so id have to get it developed externally either way...

Which way would you go? Are there other options im not thinking of?

Flash might take longer to load, but with Flash, things might look more "flasher". I dunno - just have a play around.
