Interesting to know what some of you think

Personally i believe there are aliens, but i aint going to join a cult or anything... i think its nieve to think that in the universe there is no other life form, whether or not they are visiting us in UFO's and the whole roswell thing i not so sure about.

Okay, there's no way in hell you can be a staff member at this site and think there aren't aliens. Sure, most of them don't SEEM inteligent, but they figure out how to post. Eh, who knows? It IS a big damned universe out there.

Could be wrong, but I thought it was one universe, multiple galaxies that made up the universe? Corrections are encouraged.

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) site estimates there is hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe. A recent German super-computer simulation estimates that the number may be as high as 500 billion! Can someone please clarify the accepted educated ballpark figure? Thanks a billion!


The Answer
Your inquiry is definitely in the minds of many scientists who are trying to obtain a good estimate for the number of galaxies in the universe. The methods used to achieve such number varies, and therefore, the results would vary, too. Also, as new and improved technology becomes available, astronomers can detect fainter objects that were not seen before. These objects that have come into view will in turn change the estimated number of galaxies.
For example, in 1999 the Hubble Space Telescope estimated that there were 125 billion galaxies in the universe, and recently with the new camera HST has observed 3,000 visible galaxies, which is twice as much as they observed before with the old camera. We're emphasizing "visible" because observations with radio telescopes, infrared cameras, x-ray cameras, etc. would detect other galaxies that are not detected by Hubble. Most of the reported accounts of UFO sitings have been when they was testing the viper bomber out.
Everyone has the thoughs of what a ufo looks like, so the shape and speed of the viper made them bring 2 and 2 togeher and came out with the only explination they could, it was a ufo.

ps. i ant sure if it was a viper but it was a specialised bomber which has 2 huge thursters at the back and looked futuristic in the 1980's.

i voted There are aliens, they 'visit' us
for one thing i do beleave they are out there,and if the did come by i'll be happy to show them off like crazy.there is more life then this world out there what they are we may not know till later down the road of life till then,holycow i seen one out my door oh a sh*tface police officer again.my luck

Well, there is no proven evidence that there are no Aliens, but I mean really how can't there be? There is so much space out there! There has to be some other form of life somewhere. Just think about it, in a place billions of light years away, there could be someone who is just like you...doodoodoodoodoodoo

This is a vey interesting question and I would have to say there has to be some thing, some form of life out there in the vastness of space. As to their ability to come here and visit us? It could be happening but that always raises the question, why don't they make open contact with us? Why come here and hide? Just to observe us, to experiment on us as some people have claimed? Could there be a darker aspect to these visits, if indeed they do happen?

Maybe they are so advanced that we could not undestand them? That being the case one can assume they are highly intelligent and able to communicate with us on some level? As with so many questions about the possibilty of the existence of alien life forms, it is hard to say a definitive yes until we have absolute proof.

I think it would be safe to say that some where, possibly very far away, some thing exists that could understand us and communicate with us eventually, lets hope that they if they exist, are friendly!

A long time from now when we put aside our petty difference on this Earth, then perhaps and only then, we will be able to develop the technology to bridge the vast distances we will need to travel and go out there and find out for ourselves.

considering that our solar system is already a second-generation system, it could very well be that there were aliens billions of years ago, but all their suns ended in supernovas, so every trace of them is cleanly wiped out and we will never know if there were any aliens before our time

Yeah, what we may think is weird, could be extremely weird to them. We look normal to ourselves, but they may think we are freaks you know!?
