Kratz said Dassey and Avery both raped Halbach while she was shackled by her arms and legs in Avery's bed. Avery then stabbed her in the stomach and forced Dassey to slit her throat, all while Halbach begged for her life, Kratz said.

The criminal complaint said Halbach was still alive so Avery then strangled her for two to three minutes, washed his hands and then punched her and told her to "shut up."

The two then unshackled her, tied her up with rope and carried her to the detached garage, the complaint said. Avery then allegedly shot her about 10 times on the garage floor, the complaint said.
