I'm having problems with the map editor for BHD.... Help

I downloaded the BHDMed from this site, and I am having trouble getting it to start. The window will open and that is as far as it goes. It will begin devouring my memory resources. I am running the XP operating system on my PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am looking forward to creating some serious maps.

put folder in your bhd folder and make sure you have acrobat reader. whats the speed of your computor?

1.3Ghz, 384Mb sdram. I have Adobe reader and PSP 7 as well as a few other graphics programs. Does this editor work with XP?

I reloaded it again, same thing. Wiped the game and the med, redownloaded it, same thing. Does this program have any specific video stipulations. I can get it to run on my friends PC, the only difference between our system is his video card.

what video card you have, because it does require 64meg

One thing you have to remember is that the MED, no matter what version of DF you are using it in, is a memory hog and will take all it can. The med's have become better in each newer version - the one for DF2 was prone to crashing when ever it wanted to - but they will still use up your resources fast. It's best to make sure you're not running any other programs while using the med unless you have a LOT of memory installed.

I'm running my P4 1.7gig with 512 megs and they STILL give me problems now and then.

As AW said, when running a Med avoid using other heavy duty programs.

Thanks for all the input. It was the video, problem is now solved, now it is just a matter of figuring out the interface. After that I shall be producing some serious maps.
