I was going to get it but now I am not to sure...

I read an article (below) that was saying vista's DRM software may disable different parts of the computer it can't control if premium content is used.

I wouldn't get it yet...

Get it in the next year or so because there'll be more software released that can support it, etc.

And I heard Vista is very strict on things and secure... but it's all for the better...

I'm a leading edge guy.... I don't care if it hardily has software or not, I just like having the latest ASAP.

I owned XP with in 2 weeks of it coming out. never had a problem with it...

I'm not as cautious as Chief in waiting a year for them to work out the bugs, etc

I ran vista RC1 for a while with no problems. It installed perfectly, the new look was great, it ran Ventrilo and MSN fine (I think I installed ventrilo). Every thing worked as far as I could tell great. All my hardware even had vista compatible drivers already

And I will probably get it in the next 6 months or so... kind of short on cash right now. That and like I said, the DRM has me a little concerned.

Most likely if I get it it will just be for fun.

I just checked the prices for it @ newegg.com $199.99 for " Microsoft Windows Vista 32-Bit Ultimate for System Builders Single Pack DVD - OEM"

$119 for the home premium... Maybe I won't have to wait as long....

There is some part fact there...accept 512 wont run it either well.

My opinion which at best is valid cause I use it and trouble shoot it daily. Vista is totally different in looks than any PC. Many things that where once condensed with XP aren't. Your control panel is way different and certain things have been renamed. Add/Remove Programs is simply called Programs/Features. Device Manager, Windows Defender, Firewall, etc are added. If you guys would like I can post pics of inside it...the ones that MS didn't.

All in all I give it a 10/10 for preformance

8/10 for user friendly...if your newer to PC your ok, if your old school like most of us your going to be a bit confused.

5/10 with stock vid card. There are DX10 cards out so your aware.

I really enjoy it but would recommend atleast 2gb of RAM and a better vid card to start. You don't need ultimate to play games. I can play any game that is made for vista thats "high end" with Home Prem which is PERFECT for any user. Ultimate is great no doubt but not needed really.

I was gonna get Transformation, but there were A LOT of comments saying that it screwed their system up lol.

This is just my opinion, but, getting a computer/laptop that comes with Vista means less stress because the system you just bought is bound to already have signed drivers, etc. with it. Everything is pretty much ''good to go''...
