Confused How to record 720p window?

Hello there,

I am trying to record footage from DFBHD. Here is what I've done so far.

1. Created a shortcut and added the /w which basically runs the game, windowed.
2. Tried to resize it to 1024x768 in window size, not resolution.

Here is where I'm stuck. I tried maximizing the window but I couldn't because it's not maximizable. I tried also using Sizer and ResizeEnable tool. Any suggestions?

gamerecorder
*screenrecorder (record all on the screen not just game play)
*Fraps (costly, but free version 10min record clips)
*New "Gamerecorder" or gamerecord? i just heard about it last year some time, a lot of talk its better then fraps is for recording pc games action
================
been a super long time i use a item for just that
it basic reformat video type and size you like it be, but the good news it totally free

couldn't find it sorry, basic i can't recall the name of the software!
===
just found it
*super (have to look for clean download file of it)
link: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
(warning nasty adware installer comes with it) after you install super@ best run anti-adware software like; malwarebiytes remove mining cookies and adware/ redirect page items

i wouldn't say it slick easy to use, but its my all time favorite one to use

For quake I think it used to be

/w 1024 /h 768 /bpp 32

bpp is bits per pixel which must be specified in the string

stompem, very good answer however do I have to keep the /w command and add these three like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\NovaLogic\Delta Force Black Hawk Down\dfbhd.exe" /w /w 1024 /h 768 /bpp 32

Or

"C:\Program Files (x86)\NovaLogic\Delta Force Black Hawk Down\dfbhd.exe" /w 1024 /h 768 /bpp 32

I tried both, but the game window still appears on the center of the screen (it doesn't seem that it was resized to 1024x768).

Anything I could do or test?

----
@hellfighter I use Fraps, the only problem is that I need the window resized to 1024x768 so I can record in 720p.

Worked for me. You can move it around but of course you can't resize it because you have specified the window params.

BTW
You should be recording from full screen anyway. Then you encode and resize later if need be.

What software are you using?

Or are you using hardware based recording?

Fraps has settings for full or half screen resolution, it records in the same res as your screen res. unless you set half.

It was already checked but when I render my video it's not full screen (it's like resampled).

Anything I could do?

To fix that I usually resize the window box of the game.

1. When you render from the fraps video your codec settings are incorrect.

2. VGA out of range, set monitor to native resolution.

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 11, I edited the Project Properties and the Render Settings so to render at 1024x768 and also I disabled force resample & maintain aspect ration, however I still get the black bars on the video (it's not as its supposed to).

Any solutions?

All right hands up here.

Here are my resolution specs.
(I test recorded full screen)

Max monitor resolution: 1280x1024
BHD resolution: 1280x1024
On Sony Vegas Pro Project Properties: 1280x720 (It sais it's for 720p)
When rendering: 1280x720

So am I doing it wrong?

Because when I upload the video, it still has black bars around it.

ok here the deal
your desktop set to 1280x1024 when the play back runs it 1024x768 center it to desktop area, so normal there be blacking area outside the video play back

have to set the video player using (nameless?) full screen! so there be no black or blank area outside video play back
=======
game wise
if i recall right in name? .cfg file in the game folder should be able to reset screen size for the game to play by, manually type it in
=======
monitor normal
some monitor are limited to what they can handle vs video cards/ chip may be greater then the monitor can handle same other wise to

i use
my game play set to 1152 x 864 720p wide screen set to, but my is set to box, not full screen
my desktop 1280 x 960 1080p wide screen set to
my monitor can max at 1600 x 900 1080p (46inch screen)

check see if the game is set to wide screen! and not box or window

***i really just think it the video player you are using not set to full screen, if its not set to full screen it will center the video when it plays back for you and you don't see it full screen is all

All right, I uploaded a test video on YouTube to see the problem:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMKw7oekYbE

I rendered the video at 1280x720 and recorded in full-screen 1280x1024.

1280 x 720 wide screen

720p is not half of 1024p therefore the bars.

Do you have the ability to crop the video?

As Hellfighter suggests, recording in full screen mode is the norm, is there some reason why you cannot do this?

I don't get it...?

!. Record in full screen at full size then render/resize the resulting video in your video software afterwards...

Without cropping you may have to forget 720p just choose a codec or render size that fits the best. Like an image you need to keep the width to height the same ratio as the original to prevent letter boxing or distortion.

Just so you know I have some experience with your problem this was recorded with FRAPS with the game at 1080p then rendered to MP4 360p H.264 with HandBrake (free)
Which is plenty for a Youtube vid but I could have made it 720p or 1080p just as easily.

Safest place to download it is SourceForge

http://sourceforge.net/projects/handbrake/

Try this Variant

dfbhd.exe -w1080 -h720
